Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Meets With Republican House Leaders

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has launched an initiative to help undocumented youths, otherwise known as DREAMers. Zuckerberg’s immigration advocacy group,, plans to host a DREAMer Hackathon, to be held at LinkedIn headquarters in Mountain View, CA. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with several Facebook CEOs (including Zuckerg), as well as the co-founder of Groupon and the founder of Dropbox.

Immigrants commonly referred to as “DREAMers” are a demographic who meet a certain number of criteria under the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act. They are unauthorized immigrants under the age of 31 who entered the United States before the age of 16, who have lived continuously in the U.S. for the last five years, have not been convicted of a crime, who are currently in school or have received a high school diploma or GED, or who have served in the military.

Zuckerberg is passionate about immigration reform. Last month, he urged members of Congress on Capitol Hill to overhaul current immigration laws. Immigration reform continues to be a top priority for the Obama administration.

“There’s been a lot of delay and too little action coming from Washington this month,” President Joe Green told the Los Angeles Times.
