As far as gladiators go, “Scandal” star Kerry Washington is that and then some. The actress has been scooping up magazine covers, Emmy nominations, and a hosting gig on SNL – and that’s just within the last few months.
Now, Washington is being honored as a Woman of the Year by Glamour. The star has used her rocketing influence to raise awareness for issues like arts education and violence against women.
Washington appeared on the October 2013 Glamour cover.
“My role in Scandal teaches women that you don’t have to be an accessory,” she said in the accompanying interview. “You can be the lead in your own life.”
Preach it, Kerry.
Washington expressed her gratitude for the award via a tweet, where she said she was “humbled” by the honor.
