Supermodel Gisele Bündchen revealed to Late Night host Jimmy Fallon how she learned to speak English when she first arrived in New York in the mid-1990s. No, she didn’t get a tutor or even really teach herself – the Victoria’s Secret veteran relied on music to learn the language – specifically cassette tapes of Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey.
“They were great teachers, so I have to thank them one day if I ever meet them in person. They were very inspiring,” she told Fallon Monday night.
The 33-year-old only spoke Portuguese and a little bit of Spanish when she arrived in the States to pursue her modeling career.
The mother of two also revealed that she speaks only in her native tongue at home, speaking Portuguese to her four-year-old son Benjamin. Her daughter, Vivian, is only 13 months old and not quite ready to start speaking yet. Great, so her kids will be gorgeous, cultured, and bilingual. Everyone else, feel free to give up now.
