Rumor has it (okay, Page Six has it) that Girls creator and star Lena Dunham will be covering the February issue of Vogue.
Though Vogue has neither confirmed nor denied the coveted slot, Anna Wintour herself gave an unofficial show of support and approval by showing up on the red carpet for the Girls Season 3 premiere.
Dunham on the cover of Vogue may seem like an inspired choice (and we’d have to agree), but of course there are some opinions floating around in the darkest corners of the Internet that feel otherwise. The young star grew up in a connected and wealthy family, and Vogue is somewhat notorious for featuring the rich and connected in its pages (and on its covers).
Then there’s the size issue – will Dunham’s cover shot be a cropped in close-up, à la the recent Mindy Kaling cover on Elle (currently in the throes of its own controversy).
We’ll have to wait for the issue to hit newsstands to dissect all of its anticipated intricacies, but one thing’s for sure: the accompanying interview is bound to be hilarious.
