A report released by California governor Jerry Brown shows that the Latino population is now at 39% in the state of California, which is about what the non-Hispanic white population in the state is at. However, the same report suggests that it won’t be long before the Latino population surpasses that of the white population…and, unfortunately, the politics of the Latino community still lags behind that of the white population.

According to Latina.com, many states like California that have experienced an upsurge in their Latino populations — including such states as Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Carolinas — have also experienced an upsurge in the number of anti-Latino legislation. As such, the politics and the population don’t match up.
